In March 2025, Huawei surprised the tech world by launching the Pura X foldable phone in an unusual form factor. It features a unique wide-format clamshell design equipped with a 16:10 foldable screen and a 3.5-inch cover display, giving it a completely different look than typical flip phones available on the market. A new leak reveals that the brand is now working on a successor edition, and it may launch by early 2026.

According to tipster Smart Pikachu, Huawei is working on a new vertically foldable widescreen phone. He adds that the phone could launch in Q1 2026 and might be powered by the Kirin 9030 chip. While he has not mentioned the name of the device, it appears that he could be talking about the Pura X2.

To recall, the Huawei Pura X features a 6.3-inch foldable LTPO OLED display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2120 x 1320 pixels. When folded, it offers a 3.5-inch cover display (980 × 980 pixels). The device runs HarmonyOS 5.0 and is powered by the Kirin 9020 chipset. It comes with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.
On the imaging front, the Pura X offers a triple rear camera setup: a 50-megapixel main wide-angle lens, a 40-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens offering 3.5x optical zoom with OIS and PDAF. It has a 10.7-megapixel front camera suitable for selfies and video calls.
The Pura X houses a 4,720 mAh battery, which is paired with 66W wired fast charging and 40 W wireless charging. It comes with other features, such as dual speakers and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
